How NurseryPool works

Everything that applies to every pool we run. For coin-specific settings, see the help page on that coin's pool.

getting started

No registration. You never create an account. Your wallet address is your identity, and payouts go straight to it.

Point your miner at the pool address and use your wallet address as the username, optionally followed by a rig name:

-u YOUR_ADDRESS.rig_name

The rig name is free-form and only used to tell your machines apart in the dashboard. If you leave it out, all your machines are grouped as one.

Within a minute of connecting, your address becomes searchable on the pool dashboard and you get your own stats page.

how rewards are split

This is the part worth understanding, because it is not how every pool does it.

The pool mines as a single participant on the coin's network. Every time the pool receives a payment, we freeze the split at that moment: each miner's share is calculated from the work they submitted since the previous payment, then stored permanently. Counters reset, and a new round begins.

Leaving early costs you nothing

Because each round is settled when it happens, work you already did is already yours. You can stop mining, switch coins, or disappear for a month — the amounts allocated to you stay allocated to you and will be paid once they pass the threshold.

Paid for work, not for luck

Your share of a round is proportional to the actual work your machines submitted, measured in hashes — not to how many shares you happened to send. A slow machine and a fast one are counted on the same scale, and splitting one rig into ten workers gains you nothing.

payouts

Payouts are automatic. Your allocated balance accumulates across rounds, and as soon as it passes the pool's minimum threshold, it is sent to your address without any action on your part.

Network fees are paid by the miner, split proportionally among everyone included in the same transaction. We batch payouts into a single transaction, which keeps the per-miner cost low.

Every payment shows up on your stats page with its amount, its fee share, and a clickable transaction ID so you can verify it on a public block explorer.

Freshly received coins are locked by the network for a short period before they can be spent. Until then, your balance shows as locked and cannot be paid out yet — this is a rule of the coin, not of the pool.

reading your stats

Shares of the round

Counters labelled "of the round" reset every time the pool receives a payment. They tell you what you have accumulated toward the next split — not your all-time total.

Hashrate

The hashrate shown is an average over the last few minutes, so it will not match your miner's instant reading exactly. Wide swings on short timescales are normal.

Earnings

Your stats page separates what has been paid out, what is available (unlocked and waiting for the threshold), and what is still locked. The three always add up to everything ever allocated to you.

good to know

We run pools for coins that interest us. When a coin is new and promising, we open a pool for it. If interest fades, we announce it and retire the pool — pending balances are always paid out first.

This is a small, self-hosted operation. The pool runs on our own hardware and connection, not on rented infrastructure. That keeps fees low and the setup transparent, but it also means an outage at our end interrupts the service. We think you should know that up front rather than find out at 3 a.m.

Mining is never free money. Electricity costs, coin prices and network difficulty all move, and a coin that looks promising today may be worth nothing next month. Mine what you are comfortable losing the electricity on.
